International high stakes poker dealer and man of mystery.

About 6 weeks ago I got a call to see if I could find a few people to deal a charity game of poker in Belfast. Envisaging grannies huddled round pub tables I reckoned we could do it no problem. Cash in hand, accomodation provided, travel costs covered... sweet! Amp and Madsl from Boards.ie agreed to help. Grand job. Easy money....

All in a day's work...

So, I managed to get Friday off work but the boss warns me and every other dealer to be in on Saturday as there is a big charity game on and loads of players are expected from the north, plus we have to run our usual Saturday tourney too. Great. One long night of floor work most likely. So I'm standing at registration helping the boss man to sort out seats and what not when he gets a call from a well known big stakes player who is held up and cant make the game. He wants Luke to put a player in for him, someone steady who might make the money. None can be found so Luke looks at me and says "you want to play?"...

Who'd be a tournament director?

Last night was the big game in the club and for reason or reasons unknown, the boss put me in charge of running the floor. 125 people registered in the usual Irish way. That is to say, any way they can get their names down. Phone calls, text mesages, runners holding wodges of cash and the usual last minute surge from the pub all brandishing fistfuls of notes and eager to get their gamble on!
